M is for MITTENS

STUPID EASY MITTENS

Well, here we are in April talking about mittens.  As I'm sure you know by now, I say the mittens you make now will be warming your hands and making wonderful gifts in the Fall and Winter.

Mittens aren't too difficult and it is your own preference if you want to make them in the round seamlessly and have to pick up the thumb later or if you want to knit them flat.  I knit them them flat because I hate picking up anything later, but then of course have to deal with sewing the seam.

The "Stupid Easy Mittens" (named by designer not me) above are very smartly done by magic loop method in the round as opposed to using double pointed needles which I think are cumbersome.  I've posted a tutorial about magic looping, however, once the A-Z challenge is over I intend to spend more time on it in this blog.

CHILDREN'S TWO NEEDLE CABLE MITTENS
The pattern below is from Lion Brand Yarn and is for the flat knitting style, i.e., just using two needles and having a seam (my style).

EASY MITTENS

I will be adding more complex mittens to my pattern page along with all these soon!!!

  1. Aaarrrgh! I wish I could knit better. The stupid easy mittens are beyond me. However the easy mittens using two needles I might be able to do. I just can't find a crochet pattern that I like for mittens. Aaarrgh! Great post by the way :)

  2. I always wanted to learn how to knit. I just had no idea there was such a support group!

    Great setup for your A-Z!
