L is for LACE

EASY KNIT SHAWL
Today it is lace.  I've done some lacy things like the baby sweater (see "B") and the feather and fan dishcloth (see pattern page on this blog), but I personally have not tried a shawl or even a lacy scarf.  I think this is the time of year to start and I have my eye on trying the Easy Knit Shawl (click title for free pattern) above.  The designer promises that's it's easy so it must be, right!!!?

In case lace doesn't come easily, I have included a good tutorial, it is the first of three on lace (hmm, they need THREE?) and you can get the other two when you click this one.  Here we go:

Now that we've learned how to do it, well, maybe I'll have to watch all three!!!  I've found some other free patterns that claim to be easy on RAVELRY, of course, let's hope they mean what they say because they look wonderful.

You will note that the word EASY was in each pattern title, so let's go do some fun and easy lace knitting this spring and summer.  Those shawls would be great on a summer's evening!

  5. I have the lacey yarn, the instructions...now I just need to get busy on the fancy shawl I want to make myself! Much like the one pictured above. : )

  6. :-D Reached you on the blog-hop!

I find lace-knitting is a love-hate relationship for me - I love it when it's finished (apart from the blocking!) and mostly I love the actual knitting but all other activity has to stop for me to concentrate - thank goodness for life-lines!

  7. These are beautiful, especially that first shawl. Crochet has a lot of lacy patterns that I hope to try eventually; they're so delicate looking. And I love shawls! A light one like that is perfect in the summer when you're in a restaurant that has the air conditioning on too high!

  9. This is really cool:) I make lace too, only my hobby is crochet - though I do manage to pick up knitting needles from time to time as well. I'm glad I found your blog...maybe I'll pick up those knitting needles more often now:) Happy Monday to you:)

  10. Lovely lace projects! I'm not nearly as confident in knitting than I am with crochet, but I'm willing to try these.
